Botox Q&A

What is Botox Injectable?

Botox injectable is a purified non-animal protein derived from the bacterium clostridium botulinum. When expertly injected into select face and neck muscles, it induces temporary relaxation of the muscles, which helps to soften unattractive animation lines and minimize any depressive or “pulled-down” appearance. The facial muscles implicated in this downward effect can negatively affect the vertical positioning of the soft tissue of the brow, cheek, and jowl line. There are different types and manufacturers of Botox injection products which all work in very similar ways. The risk of a significant complication is very minimal . Treatment takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

Who is an Injectable Candidate?

Virtually anyone with animated muscles that causes unattractive lines, wrinkles or cause an area of the face to look pulled down can be treated with Botox injectable. These include lip lines, cheeks, jowls, neck, and even chest lines. Significant wrinkle smoothing and reduction will last for 3-4 months, and the benefits begin to wear off by month 4 or 5. To maintain the softened, smooth look we recommend repeat treatments before fully wearing off every 4 to 6 months, or 2-3 times per year.

Dysport is an injectable treatment made from botulinum toxin type A. Dysport diminishes signs of aging by blocking nerve signals to facial muscles, thus smoothing wrinkles and other lines such as frown lines between the eyebrows.

Xeomin is a kind of botulinum toxin type A. Unlike Botox injectables, Xeomin is free of complexing proteins. Xeomin Cosmetic™ is a treatment used in adults to diminish the look of moderate to severe frown lines.
